Ăn đi. "Eat up!"
The Story of ĂN ĐI
“Ăn đi” is what a Vietnamese family says when the food hits the table. It is an invitation to eat together, and it is the whole idea behind our restaurant in Docklands.

Our story
A Family Phrase, a Modern Vietnamese Kitchen
In Vietnamese culture, eating and drinking together carry a special meaning. Sharing a meal is how you show care for the people around you, and “ăn đi” is the phrase that starts it. We named the restaurant after that moment. Everyone seated, the dishes landing, someone telling you to eat up.
Our kitchen is modern Vietnamese, built on the dishes we grew up with. Bún chả done the Hanoi way over charcoal, cá kho tộ caramelised in the clay pot, and phở on a broth that simmers for 24 hours before it reaches your bowl. Everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients, from the classics through to our own creations.
We want every guest at ĂN ĐI to feel like part of the family, with the warm, generous hospitality that Vietnamese homes are known for. A quick lunch, a catch-up with friends or a special occasion all get the same welcome.
You will find us at 5A/854 Collins Street, Docklands, on the water at the western edge of Melbourne’s CBD and a short walk from Marvel Stadium. Come on in. Ăn đi.
What we cook
Three Pillars of the Kitchen
Charcoal Grill
Bún chả the Hanoi way. Pork grilled over charcoal until the edges catch, then dropped into a warm fish sauce dressing with pickle, herbs and vermicelli.
The Phở Pot
Our northern-style phở starts with bones and aromatics simmered for a full 24 hours. No shortcuts and no concentrate, just a clear broth.
Clay Pot Classics
Cá kho tộ and the slow-braised dishes of a Vietnamese family table, caramelised in the clay pot and made from scratch every day.
